Steve Chab here. When I became a student of Messiah, I noticed that music made by Jesus-followers lacked craft and creativity. I wondered how God-lovers, given creative abilities by the Author of Creation, could make such dull and generic art.
So Elissa and I asked around. We partnered with the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship (Project Olympus) at Carnegie Mellon University and Business of Music professor Lance LaDuke. We ran nearly 40 interviews with artists and arts organizations around the country.
Artists told us the same three things. They lacked community. They lacked an audience. And most churches didn't know what to do with them.
So we founded Vibrant Verse in 2021.
Leadership
Founders
Steve and Elissa married in 2013. They love Messiah Jesus and live with lots of children and one red Pit bull. Elissa teaches group painting classes (opens in new window) and coaches moms in their creativity. Steve creates music, art, and code (opens in new window) and fronts an indie emo band (opens in new window).
